“I felt silly at first. I’ve never done anything like this, and I consider myself pretty successful: so why start now? But I gave it a shot: what could it hurt? My co-founder and I had several back to back meetings on the Hill. We were trying to convince several heads of state to take on our program, and consider our controversial and challenging policies. We were asked a few questions that threw us. But, suddenly, I felt empowered. I had been telling myself all week that “I have all the answers” – and then it became so! I DID have all the answers. And they came flowing out of my mouth from the recesses of my memory as if I had just read them the night before. We were invited back by key policy makers to held lead congressional planning meetings in support of our newly established non profit. I’m certain that the confidence I exuded in those meetings secured our seat at the table for many more essential meetings in Washington. My life, and the future of our non-profit, remain forever changed because of that one moment.”
